Hans-Georg Dechange had his first musical experience at
the boys’ choir in Limburg. After concluding junior college he commenced his studies
in catholic spiritual music at the College of Music Frankfurt. Then he studied voice
at the College of Music Heidelberg in the class of Prof. Annemarie Gruenewald.
His repertoire encompasses Lied, oratorio and opera and covers the period from
renaissance to present. He appeared in concert with the “Ensemble Modern” in the
Berliner Kammerphilharmonie, in the so called “Alte Oper” Frankfurt under the batton
of Ingo Metzmacher, with the “Vokalensemble” Frankfurt, and the “Instrumentalensemble
Il Basso” under the batton of Ralf Otto in St. Sernin/Toulouse. Also he was accompanied
by the “Limburger Domchor” and their orchestra under the baton of Hans Bernhard.
Furthermore he participated in concerts in the Cathederal in Chartres, in
“Temple Neuf” in Strassbourg, in the baroque church “St. Micolace” Prag as well
as in the “Gewandhaus” Leipzig. He appeared as soloist at the occasion of the 150th
anniversary “Paulskirche” Frankfurt presented by the university with arias from operas
by Lortzing. His repertoire in Lied finds compositions by Schubert, Schumann, Brahms,
Wolf, Strauss, Martin, Rachmaninoff and Ravel.
